PR Admiral Gin Essence 20 ml

Not every gin is angular and juniper-sharp. There is an older, rounder style with roots in harbour quarters and officers’ messes – a gin that is fuller in body, gentler on the juniper and with an earthy, almost sweet undertone. Admiral Gin is our tribute to that style: the gin for those who want elegance rather than edge, and who like to drink their Martini without wincing.

The style grew out of the need for a gin that could be drunk with nothing more than a dash of bitters or lime juice for company, without being drowned in tonic. That called for smoothness and balance – qualities that today make it a firm favourite among cocktail bartenders.

Colour & Appearance

The finished gin is crystal clear and lustrous. The body is a touch fuller than in the driest gins, which shows in how softly it moves in the glass.

Nose

The nose is fresh yet warm. The juniper is there – piney and clean – but it shares the stage with sweet orange and lemon peel, coriander seed and green cardamom. Further down lie earthy notes of angelica root and orris root, giving the aroma a powdery, almost floral elegance.

Palate

On the palate you notice the smooth, slightly oily mouthfeel straight away. The juniper arrives gently, without dominating, followed by juicy citrus and a sweet spiciness of cardamom and coriander. The roots contribute an earthy depth and a suggestion of sweetness that makes the gin unusually easy to drink even neat. Everything is in balance – no single botanical note takes over; they play together like a well-rehearsed orchestra.

Finish

The finish is long, soft and fresh. Citrus and juniper fade at an unhurried pace, with a last earthy, lightly peppery warmth from roots and spices.

How to Use

The essence is mixed with vodka or neutral spirit and can be enjoyed at once. 20 ml makes 750 ml of finished gin. Instructions are on the label.

Serving Suggestions

  • Gin and tonic with a slice of lemon – let the gin do the talking and garnish sparingly.
  • Dry Martini with dry vermouth and a twist of lemon zest.
  • Pink Gin: gin, a couple of dashes of aromatic bitters and ice.
  • Gimlet with lime juice and sugar syrup.
  • Negroni, where the softness of the gin balances the bitterness.

About the Essence

Admiral Gin is part of the PR (Prestige) series and an excellent choice for anyone who finds many gins too harsh. It works in every classic gin recipe and is especially rewarding in spirit-forward cocktails where the quality of the gin has nowhere to hide.

When you mix a gin and tonic with a gin as rounded as this one, it pays to choose a dry, not overly sweet tonic and to go easy on the garnish. A thin slice of lemon or a couple of juniper berries is all it takes. Let the gin’s own botanical notes play the leading role.
